The Party

My friend A and I are in the street in Los Angeles. It is a time of oppression for those not favored. We are formally dressed. We are both wearing kippot. In the street, there is tumult and danger for all but those favored. My friend is Jewish. He is protecting me. He is my "cover." No one can know that I am not a Jew.

We enter an elevator. There is a pregnant woman in the elevator. The elevator begins to ascend. In mid ascent, however, there is an earthquake. The elevator shakes and briefly stops. The lights flicker on and off. We ask the woman if she is OK and she says yes. We arrive at the top floor and approach a door. A butler opens the door. He takes a silver tipped walking stick from me and a top hat which up until that point in the dream I did not realize I had.

We enter a room where a party is in progress. Everyone is dressed very formally. I feel some fear as I am "incognito." I don't belong there. I am not one of these people. I feel a little confused as this party seems to have nothing to do with religious Jews. Rather, these are the elites having a decadent Eyes Wide Shut type bash. A waiter offers me canapés. There is an old man in black tie apparel sitting on a couch with two beautiful women on either side in low cut black sequined gowns. They are laughing and cavorting and begin to speak with me. The dream ends.
